Inside the Frame: July 15
Creativity in Full Swing. Getting Ready for Sacramento. Group Exhibition Underway!
Back for another recap on what’s happening in my life as an artist living in Providence, RI! Over the 4th of July weekend, I was in Vermont with some friends, reconnecting with nature and enjoying the outdoors. But over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been delving deep into my creative process, getting ready for the exhibitions I will be in.

What’s been going on…
My group exhibition at Waterfire is less than two months away, so I am in full swing of getting pieces ready for the exhibit. This is my first time doing an installation, so experimenting with how to display my photographs beyond frames on the wall has been a challenge! But it’s a direction I want to take my practice and explore further. This week, I’ll be in the studio, as I’ve been mocking up a lot of pieces to gather ideas. More about that next week!
I also dropped off my two pieces last week to two juried exhibitions at the Mary Cosgrove Dolphin Gallery and ArtsWorcester. This week, I am sending out three of my pieces to be exhibited at Axis Gallery's 20th National Juried Exhibition in Sacramento! Very excited to see everything put together.

Art Book of the Week
Barbara Bosworth: The Heavens
Barbara was a professor of mine at MassArt who influenced my photographic style immensely! As a fellow large format photographer, I loved learning how she used the camera to depict the landscapes and other natural forms. Her book The Heavens is so interesting as the images were made over several years with an 8x10 camera. The star images are hour-long exposures with the camera mounted on a clock drive so that the stars are rendered as dots instead of streaks, while the sun and moon images, that separate the book almost like chapters, are made with a telescope attached to Barbara’s camera. You can grab this book here if you’re interested.
