Inside the Frame: June 30
4th of July celebration. Photographic storytelling. Upcoming exhibitions!
Another week down and somehow, it’s already the last day of June. Fourth of July plans are creeping up fast, and I don’t know about you, but it feels like summer’s flying by. I’ll be spending the 4th with my dad’s side of the family, then heading up to Vermont for the weekend with friends. Honestly, I’m mostly in it for the cookouts and being on the water.

Art Book of the Week
Girl Pictures by Justine Kurland
Justine Kurland was one of my favorite artists while at MassArt. This was mostly because of her use of the 4x5 camera and photographs on womanhood. The fact that she still used a large format camera rationalized my want to use that camera, and that it can work for contemporary photographers. I also loved her beautifully poignant stories about womanhood and girlhood. You can grab this book here if you’re interested.
